A silicone-based fluid with unique properties, as it is neither derived from petroleum nor organic chemistry. Silicone fluids represent one of the major classes of polymers originating from inorganic chemistry.
It offers a wide range of applications – from brake fluids and lubrication to electronics. It serves as a safe, low-volatility heat transfer medium, an effective mould release agent for rubber, plastic and glass parts, and is suitable for lubrication of most non-metal to metal contact surfaces.
Widely used in hydraulic systems, inertial guidance systems, precision timing devices and photographic equipment, as well as dielectric fluids in electronic components such as capacitors and transformers.
Also suitable for polishes, high-gloss water-repellent coatings, antifoaming agents and grease or oil formulations when combined with thickeners such as silica or bentonite.
High-performance greases can be produced by blending silicone fluid with extreme pressure additives such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or molybdenum disulphide.
